Erenia Meriton

Dominican Republic

 

Mrs. Erenia Meriton is from the Dominican Republic, but she now lives and works in the Seychelles. She has presented different papers about the Creole Languages and Creole Cultures at the Creole Institute of Seychelles, since 1994. She has also published books in the Seychellois Creole. (Kreol Seselwa) One of her books includes poems in Mauritian Creole.

At the moment, Mrs. Meriton works for the Director General-Cultural Institutions and Policy Development Division of the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Sports, designing and developing projects for cultural research and cultural development in Seychelles.

Mrs. Meriton has a PhD in Anthropology, and for many years had being caring out a workshop for children called “Photography for Children. Basic Photography & Arts Appreciation.” She is married and has two children. She is also a tennis instructor.

Presently, she is preparing the second Book of “Traditional Proverbs for Common Use and Academic Research”. She is calling for contributions in any Creole language. So, those wanting to participate and become co-authors can contact her at Email. Mrs. Meriton can also can give you some tips on how to carried out the research, how to create your own collection of traditional Creole proverbs in your own Creole community.
